Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges has an enviable calendar of festivals and events. Indulge in food and wine, absorb the heady sights and scents of the region's flower festivals and open gardens, immerse yourself in arts and cultural events, and to top it off, perhaps try just one more helping of local food and wine.
Events that showcase the local produce include the Harvest Picnic at Hanging Rock, Sunbury Region Wine Weekend in August and Budburst Wine and Food Festival in the Macedon Ranges in November. Or you can surround yourself by the atmosphere of a real country race meeting at one of Hanging Rock's famous picnic race days and bring your own sumptuous spread of local food and wine.
For a change of pace, lose yourself in the larger-than-life pageant that is Chillout. Held in March Daylesford, it is the largest gay and lesbian event in regional Australia.
